Disposable Polyethylene Gowns

Protective  gowns disposable  are designed to be disposed  of after a single  use , and are typically

constructed of nonwoven materials alone or in combination with materials that provide enhanced protection against liquid penetration , such as plastic films. various forms of synthetic fibers (e.g polypropylene ,polyester , polyethylene) are used  to construct disposable isolatiobs .Reusable (multi-purpose) polyethylene robes are wasted  after each use and are usually made from 100% cotton ,100%

polyester or a polyester -cotton blend .Several studies have compared  different materials (eg, reusable,disposable) and different wearers, and have produced mixed results .A consistant  finding 

is that while impermeable materials are effective in reducing the transfer of microorganisms, the thermal comfort pg the wearer is compromised .So ,research has  assessed the penetration of blood 

, other fluids and bacteria through polyethylene gowns : results have shown that some garments have

seen penetration.

Some researchers have also considered the effect of washing on the barrier effectiveness of reusable

protective clothing and have come to different conclusions .These studies mainly used polyethylene gown samples.In general ,researchers have reported that laundering reduces the ability of fabrics to prevent the transmission of microorganisms through the fabric due to wear and tear during wear and 

damage to the fabric during laundering . Coverage reinforced by other layers reportedly still retains

protection to specific points(ie, washes).

Both disposable and reusable disposable isolation medical gowns have environmental impacts, as  assessed by the researchers.Based on evaluations of functional requirements ,environmental impact and garment 

economics , the clear advantages of reusable or single-use gowns and drapes cannot be demonstrated.
